Welcome Back to Human (Dis)connection
An invisible enemy to humankind is right before you and me.
It is growing more aggressive with each new generation,
causing life long symptoms and horrible dis-ease.
It causes us to hide behind a mask and lose genuine human connection.
It might not be so obvious, it is our electronic devices.
We are masked behind a screen,
where we add emoticons and symbols as we please.
Real interactions and expressions are diluting
due to the excessive amount of symbols offered to express how we “feel”.
Notice how similar the words ``emotion" and “emoticon" are,
however the latter is a con.
We’re left with confusion, unable to convey,
our true, authentic feelings,
slowly slipping away.
The consequences are hidden, subtle for now,
but soon they’ll surface, and we’ll see them somehow.
As technology rises, claiming its throne,
its leaving us distant, disconnected, and alone.
2020, an obvious enemy appeared,
a physical mask to make things even more unclear.
It highlighted the growing gap we face,
human connection is starting to lose its place.
A mask that hides our smile’s glow,
stopping the contagious happiness thats meant to flow.
A mask that shields our heart’s true intentions,
blocking us from having deeper, meaningful connections.
It causes a bigger divide,
keeping us apart, pushing us aside.
It locks us in, prevents us to meet,
the vibrant souls we’re meant to be.
Offline, we speak with hidden faces relying on our eyes,
Online, we type with symbols and encourage our lies.
In both, we miss a real connection,
lost in the blur of false affection.

Two years later,
we stand unmasked,
our faces bare, raw, and vulnerable.
Human once more.
Our spirits reach out, free to explore,
through the windows of our senses, we are trying to soar.
We can finally connect with others,
seeing the expressions they add with their eyes,
with no more barriers to the beauty that lies.
Truth and clarity unfold before our gaze,
on this incredible planet, in so many ways.
The choice is ours to make each day,
to continue to stare at a screen
or look another way.
The universe of love is always here to see,
its up to us to allow our hearts to be free.
The decision is ours, in every moment we find,
to embrace the world or stay locked in our mind.

By hiding our faces, we have learned:
To not waste a chance of expressing who we are.
To appreciate others who come as they are.
To value the art of each individual as much as our own.
To be free to laugh as passionately as the emojis on our phone.
To genuinely smile at anyone passing by on the street.
To allow our love to overflow from our hearts to anyone we meet.
To be human,
to be you,
and to always be unapologetically true.
Its been 2 years too long we’ve waited for this day, so let me have the opportunity and be the first to say:
Welcome back to unveiling your face, emotions, expressions, and individuality.
Welcome back to the most basic freedoms that we have in this reality.
Welcome back to reconnecting with all of humanity.
Welcome back to no longer having to live in chaotic insanity.
Welcome back.
